Introduction
Zoonotic Disease Control:
- Surveillance and Monitoring: Tracking and reporting zoonotic diseases to identify outbreaks and trends.
- Prevention and Control: Implementing measures to prevent the spread of zoonotic diseases, including vaccination programs and public health campaigns.
Food Safety and Inspection:
- Foodborne Illness Prevention: Ensuring that animal products (e.g., meat, dairy, eggs) are safe for consumption by monitoring and controlling pathogens.
- Inspection: Inspecting slaughterhouses, farms, and food processing facilities to ensure adherence to safety standards.
Epidemiology:
- Disease Mapping: Analyzing patterns and causes of diseases in animal and human populations.
- Outbreak Investigation: Responding to and investigating outbreaks of zoonotic diseases to understand their origins and prevent further spread.
Environmental Health:
- Vector Control: Managing and controlling vectors (e.g., ticks, mosquitoes) that transmit diseases between animals and humans.
- Waste Management: Ensuring proper disposal of animal waste to prevent environmental contamination and health risks.
One Health Approach: Integration of Human, Animal, and Environmental Health: Promoting collaboration across disciplines to address health issues that affect all three areas.
